I just purchased an MFP M281FDW and have been trying to get it to work this evening. I can get scanning to work on my Android phone, and printing works without any additional software on my Macbook Pro with Osx 10.12.5, but I can't get scanning to work on my Macbook and I can't get the printer scan to network folder function to work from the printer/scanner. I could really use some help please!:) I have tried downloading Readiris 15 Pro, but it doesn't work for scanning. It just says there was a problem communicating with the scanner when I click the scanner icon in the program. I also tried downloading HP Easy Start, but that doesn't want to install properly. It just says the file is damaged or corrupted.
I downloaded it from the hp.com support pages. I downloaded Hp Easy Scan from the Mac App Store, and that shows me a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in next to the scanner image in the program, and scanning doesn't work in there either. Finally I downloaded the firmware update software from the HP support pages, and that fails with fatal error 200 in the middle of the update. I tried several times.
The HP LaserJet Pro M 281 fdw All in One Wireless Color Laser Printer is designed for office work teams to increase productivity. Additionally, this printer can improve your business performance with high-quality print results. Plus, you can pair it with the HP Smart app to to scan documents on the go.
Is this OS version related issues? Or does anyone have any idea what to do to get it to work? Regards, Bill Edit: If I create a new user, and create a new folder, then share the new folder for the new user, then the scan to network folder works - BUT then I can't access the scanned document on my Mac since I have no access rights to it with the 'normal' user. I still can't get it to work with the user I always use and I need help. Thank you for joining HP Forums.
This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries. I understand that the scan to the network is not working need not worry I'll be glad to assist you. Remove and re-add the printer Remove the printer from the print queue, and then re-add it to clear any error states with the printer setup. Search the Mac for Print, then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results. Check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
Do one of the following steps, depending on if the printer is listed or not. If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and that the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign, then delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue with the remaining steps. If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue with the remaining steps. If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, confirm that the printer is connected to the same wired or wireless network as your Mac.
See the in this document to try resolving connection issues, then try to add the printer again. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. NOTE: Selecting another driver option might limit your printer functionality. Click Add to add the printer to the list.
Close the System Preferences window. Once you added, start scans from the Print & Scan or Printers and Scanners window or from Image Capture when using AirPrint.
Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners. Click Scan, and then click Open Scanner. If the Scan button is not available, open Image Capture from the list of Applications, which also supports scanning.
